Changing Covers (6)

Sorry last week was really hectic.

The idea for Changing Covers is inspired buy the wonderful book publishers that decide that a book cover isn't good enough. And it it time for something better. Sometimes this is for the better, while at others it is truly for the worst. Find out my take on the ever changing changing of covers every week here.

--------------

This week I am doing the cover that sparked this whole thing.

White Cat by Holly Black

The Paperback isnt out yet of white cat so we haven't seen it yet. But I honestly LOVE the original cover for it. I think the lines are so clean cut and amazing. And I love that you cant really see his eyes.

I honestly hate that they changed the cover so that you can see Cas's face.

Its the same picture, the same everything, but I dont like the smoke not covering his eyes. On the original cover I can get over the face because you cant see it all. But on the new cover. I dislike it. and I dislike the smoke, I think it looks tacky. Its really hard to make fake smoke or fire look good on covers, I have yet to see a cover that does it well.

As much as I dislike the new White Cat cover, I am okay with the new look for the Red Glove Cover, its cool its sexy I like it.

Smart Chicks Kick Ass Tour

So this event was a BLAST! I had so much fun! But lets do the details.

So its 1:30am and I am getting on a bus to head down from North Bay to Barrie. Now for anyone who has done this trip buy car its 2hours okay 3 if your not speeding. This bus was local! we stopped in every town, had to go through every town. Which is more then 8 stops! I got into Barrie at 6am. So I was tired.

Amy picked me up at the bus station bless her, for getting out of bed before her kids! We get to her house around 6:30 and her kids woke up around 6:45 and 7, it was so fun playing with her kids. Boys will be boys and they fight. So not the dynamic I am use to. So its so fun to play with fighting siblings. So we left her house around 9ish to head to the signing.

This car ride didn't feel long at all. We had fun, we drove around Brampton for a bit, then we headed towards the event. Around 11ish. Now once we are headed towards the event I check twitter. And Melissa Marr tweets
Flight to Toronto cancelled bc of engine failure. Rebooked. We should still make it :) This is exactly why we start w the early flights.
and scares the hell out of me. But lucky for us they did make it. and we had SO much fun.

The place was PACKED. People had been there since the place opened. So we get in line and we are in the 9-12 section of the store. It was fun, and better for my wallet because I didnt buy anything cause I wasnt staring at anything I really wanted for two hours.

So Me and Amy are waiting in line and Mina from Rath and Ruins meets us in line, and we have a blast. I heard my name. didnt see her, then I was walking around, and I see a purple feather, and I follow her all the way back around the stacks to where I started out with. She so much fun we had a blast. The other girl we are meeting up with is not there until basically the event starts. So I am tweeting/texting/calling Lauren (laurenisaguitar) and she is lost. Lucky for us Amy grew up in Brampton and could give her the right exit and how to get here. I meet her out side, because She doesnt need to be totally lost again. We are in line and talking and then the event starts. There isnt pictures because there wasn't a view.

but this is is from Chapters Facebook page.

Moving on. Through the line. it takes about 30min after the line starts moving to get to the front. Woot. For being there earlyish.

So at the signing table I had a couple of star stricken moment's. The HUGE one was when Melissa De La Cruz was signing my books
Keys says: Thank for all the reviews
Blue Bloods & Masquerades : Go great to met you
Revelation: We're Tweeter Friends
The Van Alen Legacy I <3 Jack too

I think this was huge! SHE KNEW WHO I WAS!!!
When she saw my hardcover copy of blue bloods she said "Oh I don't even think I have a Hard Cover one." she also thanked me personally fro the reviews of her books!! Ah! Ah! Ah!

Now there was Melissa Marr who is ALWAY so much fun to meet! she was dead tired. Which who can blame her, I would be too. So grateful for everything she has done for this signing! She signed all my books which Woot! (I already had the first three signed and love is hell and the first manga) thank god Or I would of been there forever.

And Ah that was amazing! I had so much fun. I also got 5 other books signed! which ah! I have so many books signed.

I got an ARC of Beautiful Darkness which when throuh hell to get it.
Marg: Tegan as is tegan from twitter, tegan whos friends with-
Me: Yes
Marg: Wait right there I have a book for you.
She pulls out Beautful Darkness. Crowd "Ohs"

Later at the singing parts:
Girl: You must be special.
Marg: Yes she is, you know I have dragged that book everywhere for you!"
Me. Thanks!!

This signing was SO much fun! I had a blast all the ladies.
I had so much fun!

Speak - Laurie Halse Anderson.

Title: Speak
Author: Laurie Halse Anderson
Publisher: Puffin
Page Count: 197 pages

Since the beginning of the school year, high school freshman Melinda has found that it's been getting harder and harder for her to speak out loud: "My throat is always sore, my lips raw.... Every time I try to talk to my parents or a teacher, I sputter or freeze.... It's like I have some kind of spastic laryngitis." What could have caused Melinda to suddenly fall mute? Could it be due to the fact that no one at school is speaking to her because she called the cops and got everyone busted at the seniors' big end-of-summer party? Or maybe it's because her parents' only form of communication is Post-It notes written on their way out the door to their nine-to-whenever jobs. While Melinda is bothered by these things, deep down she knows the real reason why she's been struck mute: Andy Evans. He's a senior at Melinda's high school, and Melinda hasn't been able to speak clearly since he raped her at the senior party last August.

So its 20 after 12 and I have just finished Speak. And it is truly haunting. This is an amazing piece of literature. I had to write a review of it right away.

It is books like this that make me remember why I started this blog. I don't review books as often as I should. I don't review books that don't leave a lasting impression on me. And this book thought having only read it 20mins ago I know it will stick with me.

this review being so fresh in my head and full of emotions will be truly raw which I think is what this book derives.

So Speak is beautifully written book. That tells a story that makes my heart melt and makes me glad I am not in high school anymore.

This book is about speaking out! The Main Character in this book doesn't speak up after the events at the end of summer party before grade nine. She got freaked out and called the cops and now everyone doesn't ask her why she called the cops they just freak because the party was crashed by the pigs.

But Melinda had a hard time coming to the truth, which lets face it who doesn't. On a personal note, its been over 6 months since a close friend died, and I still think its a sick joke some days. Thought this book is not about death it is about denial, and who hasn't been there. there are 1001 things that I wish never happened that I block out, that I refuse to listen to the million things that brings it up. Silent cries for help from close friends. We all do it. Those silent cries shouldn't be so silent.

This book has gotten a lot of attention lately, the idea of this book being banned breaks my heart. I think everyone should read it. It speaks the truth about life.

So for all you who think this book should be banned here are a couple of ideas that might be radical for you,
teens have sex, they swear, they lies, they cut, they kill people, they do drugs, they are prostitutes, they steal, they don't always like there parents, they are YOUNG ADULTS! and they have feelings, they cant go into life thinking that they aren't bad things in this world. It screws them up.

So think before you banned books.

And fyi. parents. buy your kid an i-pod cause when you have sex head phones really come in handy!

Waiting On Wednesday - Beautiful Darkness

Waiting on Wednesday is brought to you by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This weeks book is: Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
It releases: October 12th 2010

Summary:
This is book 2 or a series, so there may be spoilers, read at your own risk.
Ethan Wate used to think of Gatlin, the small Southern town he had always called home, as a place where nothing ever changed. Then he met mysterious newcomer Lena Duchannes, who revealed a secret world that had been hidden in plain sight all along. A Gatlin that harbored ancient secrets beneath its moss-covered oaks and cracked sidewalks. A Gatlin where a curse has marked Lena's family of powerful supernaturals for generations. A Gatlin where impossible, magical, life-altering events happen.
Sometimes life-ending.
Together they can face anything Gatlin throws at them, but after suffering a tragic loss, Lena starts to pull away, keeping secrets that test their relationship. And now that Ethan's eyes have been opened to the darker side of Gatlin, there's no going back. Haunted by strange visions only he can see, Ethan is pulled deeper into his town's tangled history and finds himself caught up in the dangerous network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, where nothing is as it seems.

I picked this because I am going to a Kami and Marg signing this weekend and one of my darling friends who I am seeing in October when to one before me, and gave Auntie Kami her arc to lend to me. So I can't wait to read this!

The Winner of the SIGNED Copy of Beautiful Creatures is:

In My Mailbox (8)

So I havent done a IMM in a while so heres what I got for the month of September So Far.

This irresistible collection features stories of love amid vampires by five of today's hottest authors—Kristin Cast (Tempted), Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy), Alyson Noël (Evermore), Kelley Armstrong (The Summoning), and Francesca Lia Block (Pretty Dead).

From a fugitive vampire forced to trust a boy who might work for the group bent on destroying her to the legendary romance of two immortals whose love compels them to risk everything, this heart-pounding collection brings new meaning to the words "love you forever." Whether you're into romances that are dark and moody or light and fun, these stories will quench that insatiable thirst for enchanting tales of the beautiful undead

Magic is dangerous—but love is more dangerous still.
When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.
Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.
Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. Beautiful Creatures - Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

I have reviewed this before, but in preparation for Beautiful Darkness I have re-read Beautiful Creatures. Now I never re-read books before release. I only do so if its the last book in the series. I will re-read Wicked Lovely this year, and possibly Vampire Academy.

But I re-read Beautiful Creatures and it was not a fast re-read. To be honest. I am reading the signed copy I am giving away, my copy is in my backpack awaiting Smart Chicks tour. And I am at my sisters, so I have not finished my re-read because I don’t think any of you want a copy full of baby food. but I did will finish it when I go home.

But I have been dreaming about this book for the last couple nights, and I had to go read it. Its haunting the story between Ethan and Lena. I don’t think in my last review I mentioned how great it was to see a story from a male’s point of view. Thought I know most of the people reading this review, and book are females, but oh goodness this book is told so well. I thought it was in Lena’s point of view when I picked it up. I don’t know why, but I did, and I have to say I was not disappointed. Ethan’s point of view I think is better then Lena’s.

Lena is more this is the way things are, and nothing is going to change it. Ethan is the person in which has to accept everything, he is being thrown into a world where he didn’t even know existed, and he needs to try to convince Lena that the world isn’t all evil.

I think the world Kami and Marg have created for these books have changed the way witch stories are told. The idea of Casters, and this secret world in a small town that has no secrets is so eery I love it. I can not wait for Beautiful Darkness and to meet Marg and Kami in 7 days.

It's been a long week, so I am going to do Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margret Stolh Because it is going to be released in a couple weeks! I am excited.

So the Original Cover. Which I think is great. Its looks like stars, but I hear that it is snow. Which would be just as pretty to look at (I did not like them when I thought they were stars). I love the font, and the gate is breath taking. It fits looks like the first book. I love this cover. I like the new one more.

Now there were no plans to change the cover, the artist who did the gates, changed it out of nowhere, everyone was happy with the gates, but I think the stair case is amazing. I also like how this fits the pattern of the series, more, it has more of an ere feel to it, the old cobble stone stair case that leads to who knows what. (I think the Caster Library) Ah I cant wait for this book. I think the cover changes was a GREAT idea! I love both covers, but this one give me goosebumps.
And Here is the Beautiful Creatures Cover just cause I think its pretty.

Blue Bloods - Melissa De La Cruz

I highly recommend this series, as someone who doesn’t like Vampires I love this series. There are only one vampire series I am faithful too and with wait outside in the pouring hail for.

When the Mayflower set sail in 1620, it carried on board the men and women who would shape America: Miles Standish; John Alden; Constance Hopkins. But some among the Pilgrims were not pure of heart; they were not escaping religious persecution. Indeed, they were not even human. They were vampires. The vampires assimilated quickly into the New World. Rising to levels of enormous power, wealth, and influence, they were the celebrated “blue bloods” of American society. The Blue Bloods vowed that their immortal status would remain a closely guarded secret. And they kept that secret for centuries. But now, in New York City, the secret is seeping out. Schuyler Van Alen is a sophomore at a prestigious private school. Suddenly, when she turns fifteen, there is a visible mosaic of blue veins on her arm. She starts to crave raw food -- and she is having flashbacks to ancient times. Then a girl from her school is found dead . . . drained of all her blood. Schuyler doesn’t know what to think. Could those vampire legends really be true? Steeped in vampire lore and set against the heady backdrop of the rich, young, and powerful in the heart of New York City, Blue Bloods will be devoured by Melissa de la Cruz’s legion of fans.

This is one of my favourite series now this is a vampire series, I don’t normally like vampire books, but I have been reading theses since it began, it is one of the few series that I re-read often.

Blue Bloods:
Amazing, fast pasted, I love the dynamics of the high school, Jack and Mimi are the queen and king of Duchesne. Blue Bloods seems to be a vampire version of gossip girl. Now I havent read the Gossip Girl books, but If you like the show, you are likely to like Blue Bloods.

One think I love about these books is the love triangle between Sky, Jack and Ollie (Schuyker Van Alen, Benjamin Forces, and Oliver Hazard-Perry ) Is that you have no clue who Sky is going to end up with. And one of the reasons is that Melissa De La Cruz has said that some days she is team Jack and other team Ollie. But this love triangle is also forbidden. Which makes it more fun to read.

Other main characters in this series, is Bliss and Dylan. And there relationship is again tricky. Bliss is a up and coming debutante and Dylan is Duchesne resident bad boy.

In the mists of all the relationship chaos, all these teenages (with the excption of Oliver) are becoming vampires, when pubity hits. Talk about changes, when you are going throughout all these changes in your body and you find out that you are a couple hundred years old angel who was expelled from heaven.

This book is one hell of a book.

Schuyler Van Alen is starting to get more comfortable with her newfound vampire powers, but she still has many unanswered questions. A trip to Italy in search of her grandfather only serves to make things more confusing. What secrets are the leaders of The Committee hiding? Meanwhile, back in New York, preparations are feverishly underway for the famous Four Hundred Ball. In true Blue Blood fashion, the ball is totally fab, complete with masks, and hidden behind this masquerade is a revelation that will change the course of a young vampire's destiny. The thrilling sequel in Melissa de la Cruz's vampire mythology has all the glamour, attitude, and vampire lore that made the first book a hit

So if I loved blue bloods I was in awe of Masquerade there was nothing that I would change in this book. I loved it. Melissa has added characters, who you don’t know weather or not to trust. I still don’t know whether or not to trust him.

There’s this one part of the book that I am still in shock of after reading it. (i read it the day it came out). This book just gives me shivers. Team Jack all the way.

And The 400 ball was just breath taking the descriptions of everything. I was awaiting Revelation the moment I was done Masquerade.

Have you ever wondered what secrets lurk behind the closed doors of New York City's wealthiest families? They're powerful, they're famous... they're undead. Schuyler Van Alen's blood legacy has just been called into question--is the young vampire in fact a Blue Blood, or is it the sinister Silver Blood that runs through her veins? As controversy swirls, Schuyler is left stranded in the Force household, trapped under the same roof as her cunning nemesis, Mimi Force, and her forbidden crush, Jack Force. When one of the Gates of Hell is breached by Silver Bloods in Rio de Janeiro, however, the Blue Bloods will need Schuyler on their side. The stakes are high; the battle is bloody; and through it all, Carnavale rages on. And in the end, one vampire's secret identity will be exposed in a revelation that shocks everyone.

Ah this book. In three pages of this book my world collapsed. This book is amazing. A extremely fast read. So much has happened is such a small book. I can’t really say much about this book without ruining the book for someone else. But Melissa De La Cruz sure knows how to end a book.

Dear Lord, I read this book in 20 hours, on my most busy day of classes. The story of this book is so gripping that I found it extreamly hard to put down. I abusluty love this series, and this is my favorite books in it.

One thing that I found weird about this book was the pattern of point of views, the first three books had a very ramdom pattern, of POV’s, You didn’t really know who’s chapter was next. But in VAL There was a patern, Sky, Bliss, Mimi.

The pattern bugged me in the begging because I was expecting so or Jack, Oliver or Dylan in the book. But It was also easier to keep the book in all female pov because the mentality of the plot.

There is so much going on in this book, Sky finding out about the legacy, and being on the run. Mimi and the ventors and Bliss and finding out who her parents really are. There’s so much going on. And the ending made me want Misguided Angel even more.

Lavish parties. Passionate meetings in the night. Bone-chilling murders. Midterms. The day-to-day life of Schuyler Van Alen and her Blue Bloods friends (and enemies) is never boring. But there's oh-so-much more to know about these beautiful and powerful teens. Below the streets of Manhattan, within the walls of the Repository, exists a wealth of revealing information about the vampire elite that dates back before the Mayflower. In a series of short stories, journal entries, and never-before-seen letters, New York Times bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz gives her hungry fans the keys to the Repository and an even more in-depth look into the secret world of the Blue Bloods. Won't you come inside?

This is the Blue Bloods lovers must have. The stories in this and the character profiles have such insight into the lives of the characters. The story between Jack and Sky at there first meeting at the apartment. Melts my heart. I love them so much it makes me so happy to see more into there lives.

I loved how this was throughout the eyes of the Repositions which fits this series so well. Because it works with this series so well. It shows the readers that the main cast is always being watched, and everything is recorder.

Shelter Island. This was in the 666: The Number if the Beast, Keys and Eternal Kiss.
Its sorta weird that I own so many copies of this short story. Its a great story, about Dylan and Hannah. Its great I have re-read it so many times. The Kiss in this story is amazing.

I can not wait to escape in this world more. Between My Bloody Valentine, Wolf Pack and the next novels. And I am looking forward to her adult series.

After inheriting the dark Van Alen Legacy, Schuyler fled to Florence--with her forbidden love, Jack. Now the two of them must embark on the mission Schuyler was destined to complete: to find and protect the seven gates that guard earth from Lucifer, lord of the Silverbloods.

As the Blue Blood enclave weakens yet further, fate leads Schuyler closer to a terrifying crossroads--and a choice that will determine the destiny of all vampires.

White Cat - Holly Black

Title: White Cat
Author: Holly Black
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry
Page Count: 320 pages

Cassel comes from a family of curse workers — people who have the power to change your emotions, your memories, your luck, by the slightest touch of their hands. And since curse work is illegal, they're all mobsters, or con artists. Except for Cassel. He hasn't got the magic touch, so he's an outsider, the straight kid in a crooked family. You just have to ignore one small detail — he killed his best friend, Lila, three years ago.
Ever since, Cassel has carefully built up a façade of normalcy, blending into the crowd. But his façade starts crumbling when he starts sleepwalking, propelled into the night by terrifying dreams about a white cat that wants to tell him something. He's noticing other disturbing things, too, including the strange behavior of his two brothers. They are keeping secrets from him, caught up in a mysterious plot. As Cassel begins to suspect he's part of a huge con game, he also wonders what really happened to Lila. Could she still be alive? To find that out, Cassel will have to out-con the conmen.
Holly Black has created a gripping tale of mobsters and dark magic where a single touch can bring love — or death — and your dreams might be more real than your memories.

I love this book, I can not stop thinking about how messed up Cassel and his family are. I got this book after I got home from first year university and I eat up the book, The characters are so real, and the twists and turns are jaw dropping.

I read this book fast, but the time line of this book made if feel long. But it was not drawn out, which I find is really hard to do. A lot has happened in this book. I find myself thinking of this book, all the time.

The Brothers in this novels are all so different, which I find is hard to do, in a lot of YA novels, family members seems to be alike, but this book they are all truly different, and there mother is different from there grandfather.

I think its cool that this book is in the point of view of the only member of the family isn’t a worker, opposed to the member who is. Its a rare point to take on YA Lit.

Amazing read. I can’t wait for the next book!

Changing Covers (4)

The idea for Changing Covers is inspired buy the wonderful book publishers that decide that a book cover isn't good enough. And it it time for something better. Sometimes this is for the better, while at others it is truly for the worst. Find out my take on the ever changing changing of covers every week here.
In the past I have done I did The Demon Lexicon and The Forest of the Hands and the Teeth and Lament check them out and see if you agree or disagree with me, leave a comment I know.

So This week I bring you A Modern Day Fairy Tale by Holly Black!
Here are the original US covers. What I really love about these covers is the font, and the background, which makes these books beautiful. It's not the image it self but the backround that makes the forefront pop.

Here are the NEW US Covers. Now I dislike covers with faces on them, When I read Tithe I did not picture Kaye looking like that, I understand she is green but it seemed too off to me, to have the faces on the cover because the old covers are so beautiful. I have to admit the new covers are great, and they are clean cut and uniformed, And they speak more to the newer crowd, a redesign on books that have sold well in the past I think is great because it bring newer reader who has seen that book on the self before and don't bother to pick it up. (which I am totally guilty of)

The U.K covers I think are just great, they are my favourite out of all three. I just love how abstract they are.

Sixteen-year-old Kaye is a modern nomad. Fierce and independent, she travels from city to city with her mother's rock band until an ominous attack forces Kaye back to her childhood home. There, amid the industrial, blue-collar New Jersey backdrop, Kaye soon finds herself an unwilling pawn in an ancient power struggle between two rival faerie kingdoms -- a struggle that could very well mean her death.

I have been reading this book off and on for about four years. I know I know, it’s and amazing book, but I could not for the life of me get into it, something else would just get in the way, or I would a book would come out. So sadly this book has been pushed back and back in the never ending to be read pile.

Now this bet that I have had this summer with Catie from Book Bound (sidebar) Tithe has finally made its way up to the top of the list. Horray!

So Tithe is the first book in a the trilogy A Modern Faerie Tale, which the first book is focused on Kaye who saw faeries growing up and she moved away from, and after a couple of bad gigs her fame seeking mother is forced to move Kaye and herself back to her mothers. And Kaye begins to see the same faeries she grew up with. Turns out they are real.

This book was great, but I have not gotten around to Valiant yet.

The characters in this book bugged me quite a bit. Kaye seemed too whiny for my liking, and I disliked her human friends, Roiben I think was the only one I liked in the entire book. Also her grandmother was cool to look at, I have never really had the strict grandmother, so the little we did see her it was entertaining to see.

The Plot was not original, or was at the time maybe I just read it too late, but I found it alot like Wicked Lovely, Lament, Wondrous Strange, which are all books I love, but after the 6th time you are reading similar plot line. But the book did keep me guessing, there are some twists that I didn’t see coming which I think is great.

Changing Covers (3)

I am going to try and post a changing cover every week. The idea is inspired buy the wonderful book publishers that decide that a book cover isn't good enough. Sometimes this is for the better, and sometimes for the worst. Find out my take on the changing of covers every week here.
In the past I have done I did The Demon Lexicon and The Forest of the Hands and the Teeth check them out and see if you agree or disagree with me, leave a comment so I know.

Old Us Cover

I love the old cover, I think i like the first edition more because there are part breaks (books 1-6 at prologue chapter 1 6 13 16 20 22 there is art that matches the cover art, I think its a very unique way of having art through out the book. I love the rough edges in this cover, how Dei is gripping her arm like shes holding on for dear life. The cover is just so great for the feel of the book. It fits so well.

I like this cover but to me it has too much of a twilight feel. (but better). Black background and single object seems alittle over done. I dislike clean cut covers, beauty is raw, supermodels are pretty but they arn't beautful in my opinion. The cover can be clean like (Wicked Lovely) but there is still raw emotion in it. The Jessica Darling books, have a clean cut feel but there is emotion behind them, but covers like this with an object seems too placed and emotionless. I feel so much raw emotion coming from the older cover but this black and green one is pretty but it doesn't suit the feel of the book.
Foreign Covers

UK German

I like the Foreign covers. I think I like the German cover the best. Normally German covers have the pretty elegant feel too them.

Cover change not my thing but all in all a good idea, Flux was right its alittle too wild but it has a good feel to it, if the book hadn't been raved about i dont think I would of picked it up.

Jealousy

Title: Jealousy
Author: Lili St. Crow
Publisher: Razor Bill
Page Count: 316 pages

What it's about: The Real World is a frightening place.

Just ask sixteen-year-old orphan Dru Anderson, a tough girl who has taken on her fair share of bad guys. She's armed, dangerous, and not going down without a fight. So it's gonna take her a while to figure out who she can trust...

Just when Dru thought she was safe, everything exploded in her face. Her mom and dad are long gone, her protectors Graves and Christophe kinda want to rip each other's throats out, and a four-hundred-year-old nosferat named Sergej won't stop hunting her until his bloodthirsty army of suckers has torn her to shreds.

Dru's finally made it to the Schola Prima-the Real Deal djamphir training facility and home of the Order-and life is about to get even more Real World. There's a brand new svetocha in town-a readheaded vixen named Anna who's got the Order wrapped around her pretty little finger, and who'd rather kill Dru than share the spotlight. Turns out Dru's got something Anna wants. And his name just happens to be Christophe Reynard...

How can Dru trust the Order to protect her, when its leader wants her gone?

It took me a while to get into this book, thought it only took me three days to read, and they were busy personal days, the first two books in this series I devoured. Strange Angels I read in a couple hours before an exam the night before I graduated. Betrayals I eat-it-up as well, I was sitting on the couch feeding a baby that book went everywhere with me. But Jealousy I would have to say is my least favorite in the series, which isnt a bad thing because I love this series whole heartily.

The characters in this are real, Dru’s reactions to things are real, she is really scared for her life in these novels which I think is a great thing. Graves is a man who has been hurt before and he is afraid that Dru will leave him like everyone else. After all there must be a reason Goth Boy was living in the back offices of the mall.

Christophe is the jaw dropping dangrous man that every-girl longs to be with, and wishes they didn’t. Graves is the right choice for Dru, he is the safer choice, but when does lust and logic go Christophe and the logical side wanting her with Graves. Christophe makes me think of Logan Echolls epic speech at the Anti-Prom. Dru and Christophe could be passionate, could be ruined lifes and blood shed so that they can be together. But non of that would have to happen with Graves. It’s a choice that anyone would have a hard time deciding.

I will be looking forward to Defiance next spring because the ending left me craving more of this jaw dropping series.
