Personal Demon

Title: Personal Demon
Author: Lisa Desrochers
Publisher: Tor/Macmillan
Page Count: 365
Series: First book in Trilogy
"Frannie Cavanaugh is a good Catholic girl with a bit of a wicked streak. She's spent years keeping everyone at a distance—even her closest friends—and it seems her senior year will be more of the same...until Luc Cain enrolls in her class. No one knows where he came from, but Frannie can't seem to stay away from him. What she doesn't know is that Luc works in Acquisitions—for Hell—and she possesses a unique skill set that has the King of Hell tingling with anticipation. All Luc has to do is get her to sin, and he’s as tempting as they come. Frannie doesn’t stand a chance.
Unfortunately for Luc, Heaven has other plans, and the angel, Gabe, is going to do whatever it takes to make sure that Luc doesn’t get what he came for. And it isn't long before they find themselves fighting for more than just her soul.
But if Luc fails, there will be Hell to pay…for all of them.
-------
First of all. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G book. I don’t say that often and I don’t finish books when I am hanging out with my bestfriend. And I finished this while watching One Tree Hill. Because I could not put this down.
So in the begging I was bothered by the book there was a lot of characters, and I don’t think we needed to have all there names right away, it was just a lot of information thrown at you all at once. But just keep reading because it is worth the confusion.
This is a really easy read, I could understand what was going on, Lisa described things well, the book was sexy, funny, there are some lines where I would have to walk out of the room and read the paragraph to Tia, and taken out of context they are just as funny as in the book.
Characters. There Luc Cain which I love the name, we have his point of view in this novel along with Frannie’s I think they blance each other quite well. I love the way Frannies thinks.
-- Quote:
“Sorry you lost me at breast.”
“Your such a pig.”
“I’m not a pig. I’m a guy--- which, now that I think about it, is pretty much the same thing. Point taken.” page 231
Cover lust.
You know its bad when you stop a book every couple paragraphs to look at the amazing cover art. Which this really does have.

Mondays In Opposition

Ever read two books at once and the details blend together until you can't seperate them? Scribing Shadows, Twisted Fates Cafe and myself, Mondays in Opposition to solve that problem. Two or more contrasting books that work well to read simultaneously are Featured for those ravenous readers out ther
Mackie Doyle is not one of us. Though he lives in the small town of Gentry, he comes from a world of tunnels and black murky water, a world of living dead girls ruled by a little tattooed princess. He is a Replacement, left in the crib of a human baby sixteen years ago. Now, because of fatal allergies to iron, blood, and consecrated ground, Mackie is fighting to survive in the human world.
Mackie would give anything to live among us, to practice on his bass or spend time with his crush, Tate. But when Tate's baby sister goes missing, Mackie is drawn irrevocably into the underworld of Gentry, known as Mayhem. He must face the dark creatures of the Slag Heaps and find his rightful place, in our world, or theirs.
Crank By Ellen Hopkins.
Kristina Georgia Snow is the perfect daughter: gifted high school junior, quiet, never any trouble. But on a trip to visit her absentee father, Kristina disappears and Bree takes her place. Bree is the exact opposite of Kristina -- she's fearless. Through a boy, Bree meets the monster: crank. And what begins as a wild, ecstatic ride turns into a struggle through hell for her mind, her soul -- her life.
These books not only do they have two totally different voices, but they are both heaver reads. So if your in the mood for something heavy these are two really good choices, I can not speak for the Replacements because I am not quite finished yet, but I am liking it so far.

Yes or No: E-Readers.
And I have heard, well I’ll just read it on my e-reader.
But my thing is, sure books will be cheeper!
at chapters, nightshade is: $17 (online) $22 (instore) and $12 (e-reader)
Thats a big difference. I will agree, its cheeper, and easier. But my issue, is right now I have 7 that i have for vacation. and I have finish ONE! and it was one of the three I bough while here. I am almost done another one I bough while I was here, but the 4 books I brought from home have been wasted. I am going to speed read the ones I am leaving for my friend.
A E-Reader I think just everything would get stacked up and I would NEVER read them. And I like having a physical book in my hand. I know e-readers save paper, but I like book books.
Now If i could try it out on my black berry (not I-phone, cause I hate TOUCH!)
So let me know what you think of e-readers, I hate reading things on my laptop. And I could do just that if need be.
I think a e-reader would be great for on-line arcs, cause I think thats an awesome idea, but I don’t think its right for me.
So let me know in the comments. Whats your take on the whole e-reader thing?

Forever - Judy Blume

Title: Forever
Author: Judy Blume
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Page Count: 190
When you build up something in your mind -- really imagine it, wish for it -- sometimes, when it actually happens, it doesn't live up to your expectations.
True love is nothing like that.
Especially not for Katherine and Michael, who can't get enough of each other. Their relationship is unique: sincere, intense, and fun all at the same time. Although they haven't been together that long, they know it's serious. A whole world opens up as young passion and sexuality bloom.
But it's senior year of high school, and there are big changes ahead. Michael and Katherine are in for another big "first": a decision. Is this the love of a lifetime or the beginning of a lifetime of love?
------------------
So I have been looking at this book for a while. And I was in a used book store the other day and I just had to have it. I have heard a lot of good things about it. And there are always some reivews that just make you want to go read the book, that stick with you, Aine’s Realms review of forever was the one that did it for me.
I found this book shocking. Mainly because of the content. Now I have seen my fair share of things. I grew up in a fairly open house hold, but I am 19 and I have never had the sex talk with my parents, friends parents, sisters, sisters boyfriends but never my mother. I found this book was a good gift to your daughter.
This book was written in the mid-seventies and I think it would of been shocking. It is YA fiction, it does cover some touchy subjects such as some STI’s and pregnancy and steps to avoid unwanted pregnancy.
Today there would be more information put in this book, such as HIV/AIDS but I think this book is a good jumping off points to have a mother daughter book read. Its a cute, fast read. I read it in about four hours.
I don't think I will keep this book. It is going in the pile to give to the library but, I did enjoy it a lot and I think anyone who is thinking of having sex could get something out of it. there are .

Beautiful Darkness - Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
Author: Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Publisher: Little Brown
Page Count: 506 pages
Series: Caster Chronicles
Release Day: Oct 12th (today)

Ethan Wate used to think of Gatlin, the small Southern town he had always called home, as a place where nothing ever changed. Then he met mysterious newcomer Lena Duchannes, who revealed a secret world that had been hidden in plain sight all along. A Gatlin that harbored ancient secrets beneath its moss-covered oaks and cracked sidewalks. A Gatlin where a curse has marked Lena's family of powerful supernaturals for generations. A Gatlin where impossible, magical, life-altering events happen.
Sometimes life-ending.
Together they can face anything Gatlin throws at them, but after suffering a tragic loss, Lena starts to pull away, keeping secrets that test their relationship. And now that Ethan's eyes have been opened to the darker side of Gatlin, there's no going back. Haunted by strange visions only he can see, Ethan is pulled deeper into his town's tangled history and finds himself caught up in the dangerous network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, where nothing is as it seems.

I really don't know what to say about this book.
I LOVED LOVED! Beautiful Creatures, with such a passion, it was good, fast paced. And it keeps me guessing.
The plot is good! I loved the plot. I loved the new and old characters. There is nothing about this book I don't love expect the pacing.
So I got this book September 25th, and it is now October 10th and I am just finishing it. I loved it. It's just I could put it down. Anytime I did read it I read at least 100 pages, so i read it in 5 real sitting. I don't know if it was the book or if it was my life. But I am not saying that thats a bad thing. I had to have time to process everything.
So new characters. John Breed, who is amazing, such a mystery there's nothing that I like more in a book then mystery. And Olivia (Liv) she was cool, it's great she is extremely needed to this story.
And old characters that you will love even more. Ridley is amazing in this! She does things that you won't see coming. I think she is my favorite bad girl. Besides Faith from Buffy.
And Ethan is amazing, I love him to death. There is so much that you learn about him in this book it will make you go aww.

Torment - Lauren Kate
Sorry I haven't posted a review in a while. I have been beyond busy and stressed out to the max so there hasn't been a lot of time to read. By enough of my junk you read the blog for the books.
Title: Torment
Author: Lauren Kate
Publisher: Delacorte (imprint of Random House)
Page Count: 453 pages
Series: Fallen
Review of Fallen
How many lives do you need to live before you find someone worth dying for? In the aftermath of what happened at Sword & Cross, Luce has been hidden away by her cursed angelic boyfriend, Daniel, in a new school filled with Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels and humans. Daniel promises she will be safe here, protected from those who would kill her. At the school Luce discovers what the Shadows that have followed her all her life mean - and how to manipulate them to see into her other lives. Yet the more Luce learns about herself, the more she realizes that the past is her only key to unlocking her future...and that Daniel hasn't told her everything. What if his version of the past isn't actually the way things happened...what if Luce was really meant to be with someone else? - Good Reads
I have read some bad reviews of this, which makes me want to give it more stars! I Love this book. I don't know why I love this series so much. It's so good. I said in my Fallen review that I kept wanting to compare it to Twilight and Hush, Hush because of the insta-love but this book I feel like they did it right. And I agree with this still. I feel like Kate did this properly, there was reason why Daniel loved Luce so much.
In Torment Luce is questioning her relationship with Daniel. Why if they have been falling in love for basically all of time. Why has this happened. Why her? and why does everyone want her dead.
Luce is not the dumb blond you find in so many other books. When someone tells her not to do something she almost always does it. Because she doesnt want to be weighted down. Sure its annoying and could get her killed. But what fun is the story if noting life threatening happens if she doesnt leave the school she is in.
Its no shock that I am a huge fan of boarding schools novels. Shadows Hills is amazing! One vampire book that I can stand is The Vampire Academy. One thing about Shoreline is that its a change from the dark and dank Sword and Cross. I like the changes I like the teachers. Its a good change.
Another great thing about this book is the gang is all back. You see Mr. Cole, Callie, Cam, Arriane, Roland, and there are new characters who you will love, Miles and Shelby.
One thing about this book is you see things coming. and its rather annoying that so many things I saw coming, but I had to keep reading to make sure I was right.
Teaser Quote:
"If you two were going to be that obvious about it, why didn't you come down stairs in your Team Daniel and Team Miles T-Shirts?"
"We should order those," Shelby said.
"Mine's in the laundry," Arriane said. page 396
Okay heres another one:

Mondays In Opposition (4)

Ever read two books at once and the details blend together until you can't seperate them? Scribing Shadows, Twisted Fates Cafe and myself, Mondays in Opposition to solve that problem. Two or more contrasting books that work well to read simultaneously are Featured for those ravenous readers out there.
So This week I bring you. On The Edge and Blue Bloods.
Schuyler Van Alen, 15, the last of the line in a distinguished family, is being raised by her distant and forbidding grandmother. Schuyler, her friend Oliver, and their new friend Dylan are treated like outsiders by the clique of popular, athletic, and beautiful teens made up of Mimi Force, her twin brother, and her best friend. What they have in common is the fact that they are all Blue Bloods, or vampires. They don't realize that they aren't normal until they reach age 15. Then the symptoms manifest themselves and they begin to crave raw meat, have nightmares about events in history, and get prominent blue veins in their arms. Their immortality and way of life are threatened after Blue Blood teens start getting murdered by a splinter group called the Silver Bloods.
Rose Drayton and her two young brothers, Jack and Georgie, live in the Edge, an area where two dimensions known as the Weird and the Broken overlap. In the Weird, people have magical abilities and magical creatures exist there as well. The Broken is our world, where no one possesses magic.
Rose and her brothers do have special abilities, and in Rose’s case, hers are powerful enough that men from both the Edge and the Weird want to marry her in order to make use of her gene pool. Rose has refused all these offers in no uncertain terms.
-------
These books are both supernatural but there is nothing that you will confuse in these books the names that cross over are nothing to worry about they are both totally different in my books!
Both are amazing reads and books I will hold on to dearly.
